Google announces the development of a Linux-based operating system

in

The search giant, Google, has officially announced that it is developing an operating system in a post on it's Google Chrome blog. Introducing the Google Chrome OS. It puts an interesting twist in the operating system war going one among Microsoft Windows, Apple OS and Linux OS and adds an aside to the already engaging browser war. Since the released of Google Chrome, it further heightened tensions amongst the race to get a bigger portion of web users. This new operating system is seen by Google as a natural extension to Chrome. In Google's view, current operating systems could do more to enhance the experience of web users. It is in this light that it is developing this light-weight Linux-based OS.

Google has also announced that it is already working with a number of PC makers. The list of companies include Acer, Adobe, ASUS, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and Toshiba. Let's see how interesting this gets. As a Ubuntu linux user I await to try Google's new OS when it is released.
